The College of Engineering and Technology is home to four departments: Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, and Technology Systems. The College maintains excellent laboratory facilities for instruction and research. There are many opportunities for interdisciplinary research collaborations with the Brody School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, College of Allied Health Sciences, Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences, College of Health and Human Performance and College of Business. The Department offers a BS in Engineering with concentrations in Biomedical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. There are currently 30 faculty and approximately 430 undergraduate engineering majors. The department has a growing undergraduate student population, an MS in biomedical engineering program and MS in mechanical engineering program.Job Duties :
This is a full time, 9-month, tenure track position in the Department of Engineering. The primary emphasis areas for engineering faculty are teaching excellence in our undergraduate and graduate programs, service to develop the quality and reputation of the Engineering program, and contribution to the research mission of the university. Active involvement in outreach to industry is highly valued. Teaching assignments may range from core undergraduate engineering courses such as computer applications (programming/MATLAB) in engineering, engineering design, mechanics of materials; upper-level undergraduate concentration courses such as solid mechanics, composite materials, biomechanics; graduate courses such as biomaterials, elasticity, advanced mechanics of materials, and advanced composite materials. Tenure track faculty are expected to be committed to innovation and creativity in engineering education methods and approaches as well as to the underlying notion of continuous improvement of the educational program Applicants are expected to provide service to the university, community, and profession. Successful candidates will highlight a commitment to equity and be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their research, teaching, and/or public engagement multiple perspectives as the foundation of a rich learning experience; integrate diverse experiences into instructional methods and research tools; and/or provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles, populations, and intellectual interests. Candidates are required to have a terminal degree in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field from a regionally accredited institution and demonstrate the potential for developing a research program at ECU. Secondary qualifications include background in engineering education and student success strategies, and knowledge of continuous improvement processes and ABET accreditation requirements. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

Industry experience and registration as a Professional Engineer are also desired, as are experience in obtaining external funding, grant preparation, and a demonstrated record of scholarship. Applicants in a wide range of biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering and related disciplines will be considered but those with professional, research and/or teaching experience in areas such as mechanics of materials, and/or biomaterials/biomechanics are especially sought.
